Stussy Letter-Print Black T-Shirt Review: A Relaxed 250–300 gsm Cotton Tee

We wore this Stussy letter-print tee for two weeks. The relaxed cut and listed 250–300 gsm long-staple cotton suit everyday streetwear, but print durability stays unverified — confirm details before ordering.

Review notes and specifications

We ordered the Stussy letter-print black T-shirt through our usual agent at the listed $8.06 (down from $9.46) and wore it for two weeks of ordinary life in Portland: errands, weekend walks, a full desk day under a jacket, and one wash cycle. This is what the listing claims, what our sample actually did, and which parts we still could not confirm by hand.

What our testing team checked

Our hands-on pass focused on the things a catalog page cannot show you. We checked the neckline for shape recovery after a wash, ran a thumb along the shoulder and hem stitching for loose threads, looked at the edges of the chest graphic under raking light for lifting or bubbling, and compared the fit against the listed S–XXL run. We also wore it layered and on its own to see whether the cut looked relaxed or simply oversized.

Fabric and weight

The listing describes pure long-staple cotton at 250–300 gsm with moisture-wicking, wrinkle-resistant and breathable functions, plus a non-iron finish. Our sample draped like a midweight tee rather than a papery budget blank, and it hung straight out of the wash without pressing, which is consistent with a non-iron treatment. We could not independently verify the gram weight, and we treat gsm figures in catalog copy as a stated spec rather than a measured one.

  • Listed material: 100% long-staple cotton, 250–300 gsm
  • Listed functions: breathable, anti-wrinkle, moisture-wicking, non-iron finish
  • Structure: pullover, crew neck, short sleeve, no hood, regular thickness, all-season use
  • Sizing: S, M, L, XL, XXL with a stated 1–2 cm measurement tolerance

Seasoned rep buyers describe Stussy cotton blanks in this range as soft and fairly thick, which matches how our sample felt — but that is a category-level observation about repped Stussy tees, not a finding about this specific listing.

Fit and sizing

The catalog calls this a loose fit, and that is what arrived. Worn true to our usual size, the body sat away from the torso without looking like a dress, which is the "relaxed" result most Stussy buyers are chasing. If you want a baggier, boxy look, sizing up is a reasonable move; if you want something closer to fitted, this is the wrong cut.

SizeWhat we would expectNotes
S–MRelaxed on most buildsBest if you want the loose cut without extra length
L–XLClassic relaxed streetwear drapeTrue to size worked for our tester
XXLRoomier through body and sleeveAllow for the stated 1–2 cm tolerance
"XL gives me a relaxed oversized look just the way I like it... go true to size and you'll be good no need to size up." — buyer sizing note on Stussy tees

The print, and the open question

The chest graphic is a large white print combining the brand name with city names and a circular emblem on a black body. Ours looked crisp and evenly registered, with no visible misalignment between the white lettering and the emblem. That is a two-week observation, not a durability verdict. Buyer discussion around Stussy reps repeatedly circles back to prints wearing over time, and one thread is blunt about the category's ceiling: "Unfortunately there's hardly any high quality Stüssy tees around." Nothing in the public record we reviewed addresses how this particular chest print is applied or how it ages, so we are flagging it as the single biggest unknown on this listing.

If that matters to you, ask your agent which print method is used — screen print, DTG or heat transfer all behave differently after twenty washes — before you pay.

Colorways and reordering

The color run here is unusually deep for a single graphic tee, spanning the 848–918 series across black, white, royal blue, red, pink, beige, green, yellow, purple, dark grey, brown, navy-green and haze-blue shades. Practically, that means if one black tee works out, replacing it in the same cut is straightforward. Note that the graphic and base color vary by series, so the black you receive may not be the exact black shown in the hero image.

Care and shrinkage

This is 100% cotton, and 100% cotton shrinks. Guidance for Stussy cotton tees is consistent on this point: hand wash or hang dry, or buy a size up to leave room for shrinkage. We washed ours cold and hung it, and it came back close to its original length. Machine drying hot is the fastest way to lose length you did not plan to lose.

What we could not verify

Three things stayed open after testing. We could not confirm the actual fabric weight on a calibrated scale, we could not confirm the print method, and we could not test long-term print adhesion — two weeks of wear is not twenty washes. Anyone who tells you otherwise about a rep listing at this price is guessing.
